Industrialization development minister Immanuel Ngatjizeko said the Namibia Industrial Development Agency seeks to develop key industrial and business infrastructure, promote investment, facilitate trade and introduce new technologies.

He also said the bill was expected to generate revenue and source funding for agriculture and other projects.

Namibia had two entities — the Namibia Development Corporation and the Offshore Development Company — for the functions that will be taken up by the new agency.

Addressing the Southern African Development Community (SADC) seminar on industrialization strategy in Windhoek in June this year, Ngatjizeko said the bill reaffirms the importance of industrial development in poverty alleviation. Enditem
