?The Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana Ademola Oluseyi Onafonoka has cautioned the people of Ghana to be alert and on the lookout child traffickers who have made it their business to transport young ladies to Nigeria, Italy, France and other countries to engage in sex trade.

His call came at the heels of the recent arrest of a woman believed to be a member of a human trafficking syndicate whose activities have escaped security agencies for long.

Meanwhile the young ladies who have found themselves victims to this cancer have been flown back to Nigeria to be handed over to the authorities.

It could be recalled that Metro Television had broadcasted a news item exposing this barbaric act engaged in by some people belonging to the sex syndicate where the woman in question was rounded up by the police together with her accomplices.

Although several efforts are being made to curb the sex trade canker, it seemed to be on the ascendency.

It emerged that children and young ladies who found themselves victims are trafficked from European countries like Turkey, Moldova and Ukraine to engage in sex trade in more developed countries.

Metro TV went deep with its investigations and blew the whistle some two years ago.

The said lady, fair in complexion is involved in trafficking young Nigerian and Ghanaian girls to Europe for huge sums of money.

Hidden cameras uncovered this lady, a victim of a Ghanaian trafficker who arrived in Ghana on Monday May 13, 2003. She had allegedly been sent by an agent trafficker from Nigeria to stay with the Ghanaian trafficker who will then send her to Italy to engage in prostitution.

She admitted possessing a Ghanaian passport with the name Jamilatu while her other colleague is referred to as Sheila.

A student who had encountered the alleged victims and had subsequently been attacked by the trafficker equally corroborated the story in these stolen video shots.

The alleged trafficker was equally captured by our hidden cameras, admitting to sending the young ladies abroad after they are brought to her by an agent in Nigeria.

Metro news then made the videos available to the Anti-Human trafficking unit of the Criminal Investigations department of the Ghana police service whose contribution was very instrumental in the success of this investigative report.

After a thorough probe of the evidence gathered, the CID advised a suitable day and time for a raid of the alleged traffickers home and offices to rescue the victims some of whom had been kept in the house for over four months.

On Saturday September, 14 2013 at about 5:00am, over 25 officers of the Criminal investigations department of the Ghana Police Service raided the home and offices of the alleged trafficker.

Several items were uncovered including different passports of the trafficker which had different details in them with visas of diverse countries found in all of them.

Documents on arrests by the Ghana Immigration Service and passports of different persons, some of which are Ghanaians were also found.

Her bedroom was forced open and more documents were uncovered.

The son of the alleged trafficker was arrested as an accomplice since he was the only one present in the house with the victims when the raid took place.

Many of the residents revealed they have seen several young ladies brought into the alleged trafficker?s home.

Victims and the alleged accomplice were quizzed by the CID and officials of the Nigerian embassy.

According to the Ghana Police service, although rescuing the trafficked victims was their prime goal, arrangements have been made with Interpol, the embassies of Nigeria, Italy, France and other countries involved to reach the alleged trafficker who has already promised to be in the country by a very near withheld date.

The victims who were since in police custody were released and transported back to Nigeria, according to the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana.

He however called on all to be cautious not to fall prey to the pranks put up by these people and also to report any suspect to the authorities.
