The New Nsutam Senior High Technical School (NSUTECH) defeated Seventh Day Adventist Senior High School (SEDASS) 4-2 on penalties in the opening men’s football match of the Eastern Regional Inter-collegiate games played at the Koforidua Sports stadium.

The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, sending the match into penalty shoot out.

In the other zone ‘A’ match, Abetifi Vocational Training Institute (AVOTRIAN) defeated Bepong Senior High School (BESCO) 6-5 on penalties, after the match ended goalless in regulation time.

Pope John Senior High and Junior Seminary School (POJOSS) lost to Achiase Senior High School 1-2 in a zone ‘B’ match.

In zone ‘C’, Kwabeng Senior High and Technical School (KASHTS) won 3-2 on penalties against Akim Swedru Senior High School (AKISS) after both teams had settled for a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Akwatia Technical Institute (AKWATECH) won 2-1 against Manya Krobo Senior High School (MAKROSEC) in a zone ‘D’ fixture.

The Eastern Regional Inter-Collegiate games kicked off in Koforidua with seven zones being represented at the games.

The zones are the Koforidua, Kibi, Somanya, Oda, Asamankese, Kwahu and Akuapem.

The four days event will see participating schools compete in eight disciplines namely Soccer, basketball, volleyball, netball, handball, hockey, table tennis and badminton.
